Early week snippets...

"Cece"

'Cece' is one of a set of beret-wearing girls I have had in my mind for some time and are just coming to life now. I'm hoping to get them finished in the next couple days as I get on with some serious stitching and scribbling.

I have been spending a lot of time getting my craft supplies organised and pre-shrinking fabric, but I did get a chance to pop up to Archie and Mabel's with 3 more Super Dad badges. 

They are £1.50 each and for sale now.

I'm not planning to put any Super Dad Badges in my etsy shop right now, but if anyone would like to buy one, I'd be happy to make some more up for you. Just email or etsy convo me :)

Is it a bird this time?...

Is it a plane? Is it Super Mum again?

No, it's Super Dad!!

The 15th June is Father's Day, and for it, I have made little Super Dad badges.

The badges are felt with 'Super Dad' handstitching. They are 5 cms tall and wide with a brooch back. I thought it would be a cute to mount them on a Super Dad doodle so the badge looked like his body.

Using combinations of blue, red and yellow, I made 5 different badges.

These 3 went to Archie & Mabel's today and I have 2 to put in my etsy shop next week.

Father's Day felties are ready now as I'll be spending some stitch-free days away.

(I may sneak a little embroidery with me to keep any crafting cravings at bay. Hello, my name's Jenny and I'm a stitch-aholic.) 

I'll be back home on the 27th, ready to open shop on the 28th, but those days away may mean an end to my Post-a-day-in-May.

'Elf and Safety'

15 bells, 10 rosy cheeks and a lot of stitches later, the elves are ready!

Why "Elf + Safety"?

It started with a christmas ornament I made last year for my dad. (You can see it here at the bottom of the post) He works in Health and Safety, and I do like to play with words, so the 'Elf and Safety' Elf was born.

He is leaving for a new job soon, and asked if I could make some more elves for gifts.

And here there are, a merry bunch to spread cheer and safety!

Everyday Cake

You probably guessed already that I think cake is the best way to celebrate the big things, but I also believe it to be the perfect treat to mark the little things too. 

(Any excuse for cake is good for me!)

I have found a great way to have a cakey treat around all the time...

A Cheery Cherry Cardholding Cake!

Felty stitches just the right size for keeping my business cards looking cute.

This is not the first outing of a cheery cherry cake. 

Back in January, there was a couple of badges with their happy faces on and when my other cardholder vanished a couple of weeks ago, she sprang to mind as the perfect cardholding companion. She is my everyday-cakey-friend :)

In other Cakey news, I took 3 of these little 'Happy' Badges up to the shop this week

And the other 3?

Well, I'm keeping them myself to pop in a shop of my own.

I'll keep you posted on that little development, I don't know as yet when it will happen but I'm so excited at the thought of my own little shop!!

Busy Bunny

Lots of busy bits of work going on here.

The doodle dolls are coming along just wonderfully, I'm so happy with how they are turning out and am hoping to do a bit more on them tonight.

The laundry girls are being stitched together, and there is another trio of ladies, who I'm close to being ready to share as well.

And that's just the girly stitches and scribbles.

There is cake, bunnies and a couple of etceteras on the go too!!

Flossy Bunny Badge

I made up this little felt badge of Flossy last week.

I tried to make it look closer to my sketch for the bunnies, rather than how the softies look. I think it came out a nice between of the two.

Not sure yet if there will be more of these, but there are some biscuit-coloured Flossy friends in the WiP box.

Its back to the busy for me now.

A Piece of Birthday Cake

Smaller than the 'Cheery' Cherry Cake badges at 8cms tall and 4cms wide, but just as cute! 

They are made from felt with stitch detail and brooch pin backs.

Happy Birthday to me....

It's my birthday tomorrow and a new batch of cakes is ready just in time for it.

The photos are terrible, as I need to take them in daylight, but I was so happy to have my own little batches of 'Happy's to share my Birthday with, I needed to post them now.

 Better photos and some more info will follow soon, I promise.

Tea, anyone?

I'm very excited about sharing my new little stitches, I've been meaning to do this all week... 

 Here they are!  Little tea bags, made from felt with sweet little faces and heart tags. They stand about 6 cms tall and have been plumped out a little with  toy-stuffing. 

'Dunky' the Felt Tea Bag

The first one I made was just plain old tea, and as he worked out so cute I had to make him some little friends.

'Used' Felt Tea Bag

...and his not so healthy friend the used tea bag. 

'Used' was just like Dunky once upon a time, but he became stained and upset when he was used to make a lovely cup of tea for a little old lady. He really shouldn't be upset, but all tea bags look kind of sad after coming out of the cup.

I'm keeping these little feltys for myself, but I will be making some more with a little twist for sharing.

Hope they've given you a little smile

 and that smile stays with you over the weekend.

Old Things, New Things and Things to be done

Lovely Felty WiP

Its been a bit of a slow progress week around here.

I have a sketchbook full of scribbles and all that lovely felt ready for stitching.

So, I thought I'd share some older projects with you...

Felt card holder 

for my mini businesscards from Moo. I really love my minicards and now, they have a place to be cosy.

Cupcake Pincushion

A first attempt, the pattern needs a little tweaking.

'Laundry Girl' Laundry Bags

Made from a pillowcases that lost their duvet. I turned them into drawstring bags and painted the  girls on them. Pink dress for light washing and black dress for darks.

And finally, a pom-pom sheep

My friend and I relived the childhood craft of pom-pom making and mine turned into a sheep with a felt face. Hers was a much more creative Christmas owl.

Well, now I have to get working as I think that is almost the end of old project photos.

I'm planning on a sewing marathon next week, as well as playing with my fantastic new toy!

My very own Print Gocco!!

Not really a toy, Gocco is a printing machine from Japan, which works in similar way to screen printing. A birthday present come early, I can't wait to start making myself some little stationary (my first project idea, many will follow I'm sure)

It came all the way from Japan via the most wonderful site, Etsy. It is my favourite place on the whole internet. It sells gorgeous handmade items from all over the world and I hope to have my own little shop on there one day too. Oh, you have to go see it...

Well, my little show and tell is finished for the day.

Happy Day!

Today, there are two reasons for celebrating.

Happy Pancake Day!

I love pancakes. Any excuse to eat them and make little felty ones is more than welcome by me. They are super sweet but made sweeter with my favourite pancake toppings, 'lemon & sugar', 'blueberries' and 'syrup'.

I made these as a bit of fun, and now I would love to give them away to good home!

If you would like one, just leave your name in the comments at the bottom of this post by next thursday (14th) and they will be posted to new homes the following week.

The second reason for celebrating:

Happy Birthday Ollie (my dog)

I know a lot of you (read *most*) won't be celebrating this, but I wanted to share his birthday doodle with you anyway.  Ollie doesn't realise he is a dog, preferring to think of himself as a little lord. I really think his birthday wish would be to own a little top hat.

So, I hope you have a very happy day, whatever you're reasons to celebrate.

Flowers, Hearts and Candy

It can only mean one thing...

is almost here.

I have been busily stitching away to make some love-themed bags that will last all year round, and some little, felty love tokens too.

All the bags are made from Valentine-y red cotton with lovely cream details.

There are two kinds of mini tote - Flowers and Hearts

Big Cream Corsage mini tote

I love this bag. Although I shouldn't have favourites, this one is my favourite. I am going to be making myself a corsage like this for my coat over the weekend. Maybe some for the shop one day too.

Spiral Stitch Flower mini tote

 The flowers are made from cotton with a red button centre and a drawn stem and leaf.

Happy Heart mini tote

Heart Loves Heart mini tote

The detail is drawn on cotton and machine-stitched. 

The mini totes are 22cm x 22cm cotton bags with ribbon handle and handcrafted detail. £4.95

Christmas 2007

This Christmas, I made felt tags to put on all my gifts. After the presents were unwrapped, they could be hung from the tree as decorations.

Festive Brussel sprouts, a penguin and 'Santa Claws the Christmas crab' 

More traditional Christmas tags. Santa, a reindeer and an Elf.

My dog, Ollie had a tag in the image of himself.

A tiny Christmas stocking.

And finally, a decorative 'Elf & Safety' Elf for my dad's office (he works in health and safety).

I am planning to make more Christmas decorations this year, but not until much, much later in the year.
